Is it a motorcycle starter battery?
 
No, it is NOT a starter battery. Our battery is a deep cycle Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) Battery, with a maximum power output of 7Ah.
Does this battery have low temperature protection?
 
Yes, the built-in BMS works with a low temp sensor to provide complete low temperature protection. When the temperature reaches 23℉ to 41℉ (-5℃ to 5℃), this lithium battery will stop being charged, and then the temperature reaches -13℉ to 5℉ (-25℃ to -15℃), the battery will stop discharging.
Can I wire these batteries in series and in parallel?
 
Yes, Dr.Prepare 12V 7Ah lithium batteries support both series and parallel connections. Please use identical batteries for the connection. For optimal performance, follow these guidelines:
1. Ensure all batteries are fully charged before connecting.
2. Use interconnect cables of the same wire gauge (AWG) and length from the same brand to maintain consistent impedance, preventing unbalanced charge and discharge performance.
3. Connect batteries one by one in series (up to 4 batteries) or parallel (up to 4 batteries). Securely tighten all cable connections between the lugs and terminals.
Does this battery have low voltage cut-off protection?
 
Yes, it does. The battery will automatically shut off when the discharge voltage drops below 10V.
What are the charging voltage and charging current for this battery?
 
The recommended charging parameters are as follows: adjust the voltage to 14.2V and use a 5A charger for optimal performance. While the maximum charging voltage is 14.6V and the maximum charging current is 7A, adhering to these specified values will enhance the charging efficiency of the batteries.
Can I use my lead acid battery charger to charge the lithium battery?
 
We recommend using a lithium battery-compatible AC to DC charger to charge our LiFePO4 batteries to avoid causing irreversible damage to their lifespan. Additionally, these batteries can be charged using compatible solar charge controllers and solar panels.
How to properly store this battery?
 
We recommend maintaining the battery at 100% state of charge or, at the very least, 30%-50% state of charge. Disconnect the battery from any load by removing the terminal cables. It's highly advisable to charge the battery every 6 months during periods of non-use to prevent over-discharge.

For storage lasting 1-3 months, keep the battery in an environment with a temperature range of -4℉ to 113℉ / -20℃ to 45℃. For longer storage periods, particularly up to 1 year, it is recommended to store it in an environment with a temperature range of -4℉ to 68℉ / -20℃ to 20℃.
